Marcella and Ted M. are delighted with their ‘Christmas’ present. Marcella, only 57 years old is wheelchair bound. Ted takes care of her and works to maintain their home, but resources are limited. This past April, Rebuilding Together volunteers worked hard to replace a leaking roof, repair water damage to ceiling, replace worn kitchen carpet with smooth flooring to make a wheelchair easier to maneuver, provided a transition strip for a doorway to allow Marcella access to another room and painted an aging exterior.
Marcella is still active in the community, volunteering at the voting polls and as an activist. She and Ted were frustrated that they live in a township area and don’t qualify for many Columbus programs.
We are happy that we could give them the gift of warm, safe and dry.
